Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions - Jacksonville, FL

Ask. Learn. Smile.

We completely understand if you have questions about your dental care. There is A LOT to know, which is why our team continues to do research whenever we can. If you want to know more about your dental health or our available services, you’re always invited to give us a call and ask whatever is on your mind. Read on below to find answers to some of our most frequently asked dentistry questions.

When should I go to the dentist?

We recommend coming to see us at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning so we can find and take care of minor problems early as well as prevent many from popping up in the first place. You should also schedule an appointment if you experience any persistent dental pain—acting quickly will ensure that a minor problem doesn’t have time to turn into a major one!

Is it normal for my gums to bleed whenever I brush my teeth?

Consistently bleeding gums tend to mean one of two things: you’re either cleaning your teeth with too much pressure, or you have a minor infection. Brush and floss with a lighter touch for a few days and switch to a soft-bristled brush if you aren’t using one already. Is the bleeding still happening? Then you likely have gum disease, which we can take care of right away if you give us a call.

One of my teeth hurts. What should I do?

If rinsing and flossing around the tooth doesn’t stop the pain, go ahead and contact our dental office. Even slight dental pain could be a sign of a major underlying problem, and coming to see us right away will help us save you from even more pain in the future.

How long will it take to fix my tooth?

It depends! Minor tooth decay can usually be filled in a single appointment, and we’re able to provide one-visit crowns with CEREC for more extensive damage as well. If we need to remove and replace it, however, the process will take much longer.

Will you take my dental insurance?

Most likely yes! We are in-network with several popular PPO dental insurance plans, and we’re happy to file claims on our patients’ behalf to ensure they save as much as possible. Contact us today to learn how we could use your specific policy.
